Interested in Becoming an Umpire?
Program Coordinators -- It's getting to be That Time of Year Again.
Despite the more than 60" of Snow this Winter (and probably still more to come),
we all know that the Spring / Summer Baseball and Fast-pitch Softball Season is fast
approaching. This is All About the KiDS!!! The players in your programs.
As always, we're looking for some good, solid candidates to consider Umpiring for
local leagues / programs, yours among them. And we're flat-out asking for your help
in support of your own programs.
We Need New Blood! -- It's as straight-forward and simple as that.
Typically, we target high school and college / grad students, and adults who have had
Some PLAYING Experience -- Umpiring Experience would even be better, but not a
definite requirement... since we conduct Qualified Training Clinics to make sure that the
people who get out there on field Do Have Solid Knowledge of the BB / SB Rules,
Umpire "Mechanics," and an Attitude that is Conducive to Officiating Youth (and possibly
Adult, if that might suit). BTW, teachers do tend to make really good umpires, thanks to
their schedules, AND the fact that a little extra money tends to come in handy.
Umpiring tends to be a Great Way for individuals to earn some supplemental income.
And it's a great way for interested parties to "give back to the sport!"
Here's Where We're Looking for Your Help....
First, Attached are a couple of promotional items we'd ask you to print up and get out
in your local park districts, schools, banks, village halls, youth s[ports sign-up sites, etc.
Anywhere where people might get a chance to see them, and respond with a degree of
possible interest. the attached PDF files as supplied in both Color AND/OR Black & White.
Whatever you can work with best would be greatly appreciated.
Second, also attached is a relative small, simple graphic element (jpg file)that we would
request you get to your local program Site Developers, Webmasters, etc., to be posted
online in your local websites. We respectfully request that this image be hot-linked to the
following URL: http://www.playballservices.com/html/wanted.html . This will get interested
to our site to school them on what it's all about, what expectations are, what it takes to
become a good, solid official, etc.
Should you need or want something more )copy, graphics, pix) than what is attached
Here, just call me. I'll be more than happy to see what I can do to help you help your program.
REMEMBER, this is All About Supporting YOUR OWN LOCAL LEAGUE SPORTS PROGRAMS!
We've made similar requests to Program Managers in the past, and unfortunately, have found that
very few programs "put the word out." We definitely are looking to educate new officials ad get them
on YOUR Fields.
PLEASE TAKE ACTION ON THIS MATTER PROMPTLY, as the First Training Clinics are
less than two weeks don the road -- Sat./Sun., Feb. 22 -23. Don;t put this off... it's way
too important -- for Your Programs!
Thanks in Advance. Let's Make It A Great Year for Youth Sports, Across the Board!
