HAC follows Pony Rules (See Baseball Home Page for Pony rules link or Links page) except for the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES OF A MANAGER
1 Teach the fundamentals of the game of baseball/softball to your team. It is
important that your team understands the rules that apply to your division. Our
league is instructional — our players need to learn all facets of the game.
2. Encourage your team and coaches to put forth their best efforts to develop
into better players and coaches. No one can ever learn enough!! A team that
works well together will play well together.
3. Communicate!!! Communicate with your players; with your parents; with your
league directors. If you have problems — call your league director or your
program coordinator. Problems do not solve themselves. Handle it when it
happens.
4. Attendance on designated field maintenance days.
5. Proper care and maintenance of Homer Athletic Club equipment. This covers the
equipment that is registered to you — your equipment bag s contains a catchers
mitt, shin guards, chest protector and mask & helmets. You are given enough
practice and game balls for the season. Any problems with equipment should be
reported IMMEDIATELY to the Equipment Coordinator. A broken strap or a cracked
helmet is a safety hazard. No equipment should be used if it is broken!!!!
6. Careful and conscientious use of field equipment; i.e., locking equipment
boxes, turning off scoreboards, putting away controllers, shutting lights off on
your field. (If the lights go off on your field—you must still turn the lights
off at the control box!!!) Putting the rakes, all-star, chalker, wheel barrel,
etc., back into the sheds. If you took them out — you should put them away!!!!
7. Managers are representatives of our organization. Whether on home fields or
at visiting fields; good sportsmanship must always be demonstrated by the
manager. Our managers are role models for our players.
8. Foul and/or abusive language, physical contact, or improper behavior will not
be tolerated. Smoking is prohibited on the playing field and dugouts. Alcohol is
prohibited everywhere!!!. Any violation of these rules above and said person
and/or persons will be subject to suspension and/or dismissal from Homer
Athletic Club.
9. Be positive!!! Be encouraging!! Your attitude and approach to coaching molds
a child’s attitude toward the game and his/her progress. Good players are
by-products of good coaches.
