Basketball

The Homer Basketball program consists of recreational leagues, part-time HEAT travel teams and full-time HEAT travel team. All levels focus on instructional game play in addition to players becoming students of the game and enjoying a life long recreational activity.

Grades 3-8 each run a boys and girls recreational league. Teams play 10-12 game schedules with a year end tournament. Practices and games will be a mixture of Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Saturdays no more than 3 times a week. Games and practices are held at District 33c gymnasiums.  7th and 8th grade may play games on Sundays. The Rookie League (1st & 2nd grade) plays on Saturdays only with a practice the first 20 minutes followed by a controlled game for the remaining time.

The Rec season runs from November to February.

Registration typically takes place in August through September each year.

PART-TIME HEAT TRAVEL program players must also play rec basketball, practice about 1-2 additional days per week, and play in local travel tournaments.

FULL-TIME HEAT TRAVEL program may participate in local travel leagues and play in travel tournaments throughout the year.

The travel season runs from October through February.
